Large Scale Water Consumption in California may trigger earthquakes.

California

Over recent years scientific community becomes increasingly concerned about the forces that play an important role in elevating California's mighty Sierra Nevada and central coastal ranges, which has lead to an increased number of earthquakes.

A group of scientists has carried extensive research in the area in order to identify the reason for the occurrence of earthquakes. They published a new theory in Los Angeles Times, in which they express the opinion that quakes are caused by pumping groundwater in the Central Valley. This evidence suggests that human activity may play an important role in the rise of rate for earthquake occurrence. Due to the pumping of groundwater in the Central Valley, the mountains closest to California's drought stricken Central Valley are growing at a higher rate.

According to Los Angeles Times, groundwater is very heavy and therefore this is associated with depression of the upper crust of the Earth. Pumping groundwater leads to reduction of weight and Earth moves upward and these two factors trigger small earthquakes.

Filtration Technique used in commercial beer production found to contaminate end product with arsenic, heavy metals.

Beer is a type of commodity that is subsequently processed in order to be suitable and clear for consumption. Recently, there is a global attention and research concerning application of powdery substances in order to pull impurities out of beer.

A research was conducted and presented at the 245th National Meeting and Exposition of American Chemical Society. The research identified a diatomaceous earth, that is used by some breweries in processing and filtration of commercial beer, which can be source of arsenic and other toxins. The origin of the research focused on Germany as samples of beers were detected with high levels of arsenic. Levels of arsenic along with other contaminants were found to be higher in beer samples, than in the water used to make beer.

Researchers concluded that arsenic was released into the German beer samples through a filtering material, known as kieselghuhr or through application of a diatomaceous earth used to remove yeast, hops and other particles in order a crystal clear appearance to be generated for beer.

The many health benefits of natural yoghurt

''Natural Yoghurt''

Yoghurt is a natural dairy product, whose origin is established years ago. It constitutes a dominant                commodity in various cultures, notably eastern European and west Asian, as it is associated with a                range of health benefits.

1) Rich in Probiotics:

Natural yoghurt is made through the bacterial fermentation of milk, so it contains beneficial living microorganisms. These microorganisms are referred as probiotics. These benefit one's health when consumed in adequate amounts. Bacteria that are involved in production of yoghurt include Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Streptococcus Thermophilus. The mechanisms of action of these bacteria constitute a significant interest as they help adjust the microflora in the intestines, aid in the production of Vitamin K and Vitamin B12 and ensure that calcium is absorbed efficiently into the bloodstream.

2) Important Role in Digestive Health:

A range of bacteria aim at colonizing the gut, either beneficial or harmful ones. The invasion of harmful bacteria can be inhibited by the action of probiotics that are found in yoghurt. These act as a protective layer in the gastrointestinal tract, so competition of harmful bacteria with probiotics leads to domination of probiotics in the GI tract. An intestinal tract that is fortified with probiotics is associated with reduced risk of some serious medical conditions such as diarrhoea, bloating, gas, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic fatigue and constipation.

3) Good source of Fats

A half container of natural yoghurt that is made from whole milk contains approximately 4 grams of total fat, of which 2 grams are saturated. There is a particular fatty acid that can be found in yoghurt and it is considered essential. This can not be synthesized by the body. The designated fatty acid is conjugated linoleic acid. This fatty acid acts as a powerful anti-carcinogen, metabolism enhancer, elimination of bad cholesterol, body fat and heart disease risk.

4) Contains important minerals:

Natural yoghurt supplies the body with approximately 137 milligrams of calcium, which constitutes 14% of the recommended daily intake. Yoghurt also contains short chain fatty acids which ensure that the environment in the colon is acidic. Additionally natural yoghurt is a good source of riboflavin, phosphorus and protein.
