Natural Ways to enhance Serotonin.


  Serotonin is a hormone in the pineal gland, digestive tract, central nervous system and blood platelets which controls the cells and the organs. Serotonin is a chemical substance that transmits nerve impulses between nerve cells or neurons. In addition serotonin is a substance that plays a key role in the regulation of learning, mood, sleep and vasoconstriction. Alterations in serotonin therefore is associated with consequences in human life such as changes in mood. 

 There are some ways that can enhance the levels of serotonin.

1) Manage carbohydrate intake: An excessive intake of carbohydrate through diet impact on mood disorders such as depression. Therefore modulation of carbohydrates in the diet is essential in maintenance of health.

2) Tryptophan Rich Foods: In the brain tryptophan is converted to serotonin in the brain. Thus consumption of foods that are rich in Tryptophan is essential. A variety of foods contain this type of amino acid such as chicken, fish, nuts, legumes, brown rice. Serotonin levels through these foods are enhanced. 

3) Consumption of appropriate fats: Function of internal systems can be efficient if the appropriate amount and type of fats are consumed. Foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids such as fish, DHA enhanced eggs, flaxseed products, nuts, seeds and avocados enhance serotonin levels. 

4) Exercise on regular basis: Regular exercise is associated with health benefits that are significant and can provide useful role in maintenance of health. Except from its direct effects in health exercise aids the levels of serotonin, dopamine and of various endorphins. 

5) Optimize sleep: Getting up early in the morning is highly beneficial as serotonin levels can be enhanced. Light exposure is a factor which can help and regulate serotonin levels.
